Highway Department

Snow & Ice Removal

The Town provides snow & ice control to promote safe vehicular travel during the winter months.  Snow removal efforts include snow plowing and, when necessary in congested areas, loading snow into trucks to be hauled away.  Town crews plow main roads first, and then the secondary roads.  There is no parking allowed on the streets of the Town of Union after two inches of new snow has fallen.  All vehicles left on roadways will be ticketed and/or towed at the owners risk and expense.

Chapter 214 of Town Highway Law allows for a $100.00 penalty for depositing snow and ice on any road or highway.

In addition, Highway Law, Section 319, Article 11, states that municipalities are not responsible for damage to any mailboxes.
