EMPLOYMENT - General

The Town of Union offers diverse full-time and part-time employment opportunities for residents of the Town and surrounding areas, from labor and semi-skilled positions in our busy Public Works Departments to professional opportunities in our modern Town Offices.

Full-time clerical, technical, and supervisory positions are generally subject to Civil Service requirements. See our Civil Service Section in this web site.

EMPLOYMENT - Summer, Seasonal and Part-Time Positions

Town of Union residents receive first priority for summer, seasonal and part-time positions.

The Town employs seasonal clerical, parks, recreation, and public works employees throughout the year.  Seasonal job applicants may apply directly in our Personnel Office at 3111 E. Main St. Endwell, NY 13760 or call, Gay Cerasaro, at 786-2938 for hiring and employment information.

Summer positions are recruited in the spring which is our busiest hiring time.  The Town of Union is proud to be the largest employer of youth workers in the area. Residents of the Town, between the ages of 16 and 18 as well as local college students are offered various summer positions in our recreation programs and parks from May through September.

BENEFITS

The Town of Union provides a generous benefits package for our employees. Benefit plans, including paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, are offered based on the classification of employment. All classes of employees are eligible to join the New York State Retirement System.

Full-time, CSEA union employees are eligible for hospitalization, master medical and prescription; dental; vision; NYS statutory disability; workers' compensation; and life insurance. Premiums are partially paid by Town of Union employees. Deductibles and co-payments apply.

Full-time, exempt employees are eligible for hospitalization, master medical and prescription; dental; a choice of two vision plans; NYS statutory disability; and workers' compensation. Premiums are partially paid by Town of Union employees. Deductibles and co-payments apply.

Part-time, regular employees who work a standard 19.5 hours per week year round, employed in positions designated as eligible part-time, are offered limited benefits. These include: pro-rated vacation, sick, and holiday pay. Hospitalization, master medical and prescription; NYS statutory disability; and workers' compensation. A $15.86 per week payroll deduction for medical insurance is required.

Elected and some Appointed Officials are eligible for limited benefits. Call for details.

Retirees. Employees who were hired prior to December 31, 1997 and who retire from the Town of Union under the New York State Retirement Plan, are eligible to continue their medical benefits. Premiums are fully paid by the Town of Union. Deductibles, co-payments, and coordination of benefits with Medicare apply.
