Recycling & Solid Waste Services
The Town of Union encourages backyard composting (the natural
breakdown of organic matter such as leaves, grass, and vegetable scraps
into a dark, rich soil material) and grasscycling (the process of
recycling clippings by leaving them on the lawn after mowing). These
activities significantly reduce the amount of waste that goes to the
landfill, with the additional benefit of enriching soil and lawns. The
Broome County Cornell Cooperative Extension provides free "how
to" presentations for both composting and grasscycling.
Fees
There are no fees associated with these services.
