PARKS DEPARTMENT
The
Town of Union's Parks and Recreation Department strives to provide
active and passive recreational opportunities for its residents and
their guests. To accomplish this goal the department has developed
eleven specific park sites ranging from large park lands and sports
facilities to small neighborhood parks. Within these facilities are
pools, picnic tables and shelters, carousels, tennis, basketball and
volleyball courts, concessions, playgrounds, sports fields and more.
A Recreation Center encompassing a gymnasium and activity room is
located at Highland Park.

USAGE OF
PARKS FACILITIES
Town of Union Softball/Soccer Fields/Tennis Courts (Games run 1.5 hrs)
Fees (Subject to Change)
Youth - $10.00/game; Youth (under the lights) $20.00/game
Adult - $20.00/game; Adult (under the lights) $30.00/game
A. Town of Union Parks & Recreation Department programs
have priority. In order to insure that Town of Union residents have
preferred use of fields, the following priorities will be used in
assigning fields. To assist us in scheduling, please indicate your group’s
priority number on the upper right corner of the Facility Agreement Form
using the numbers listed below.
- Town of Union based leagues comprised exclusively of Town of Union
residents
- Town of Union based leagues comprised of a majority of Town of
Union residents
- Town of Union based teams comprised exclusively of Town of Union
residents
- Town of Union based teams comprised of a majority of Town of Union
residents
- All others
B. Requests for field reservations must be submitted on the
Facility Agreement and include the name and phone number of the contact
person, name of league or team, dates, times and fields desired.
Percentage of Town of Union residents will be determined by rosters.
Addresses will be verified.
- Reservations are finalized only after insurance certificates and
required fees have been received by the Parks & Recreation
office.
- No fees, charges or donations may be collected by leagues/teams to
spectators of the game or event.
- All refuse must be collected and placed in the proper receptacles
before leaving the reserved area. Failure to do so may result in the
revocation of permits.
- No persons shall use any violent, obscene or profane language
while on the park grounds, nor shall anyone conduct himself in a
disorderly manner or commit any nuisance. Such occurrences may
result in the revocation of permits and the arrest of such
individuals.
- All persons are expected to make careful and prudent use of park
facilities and may be held responsible for all damage to persons or
property.
- Any violation of park rules or regulations may be cause for
revocation of field reservation.
- Lights at Glendale will be turned off at 10:45 p.m. and lights at
Highland will be turned off at 10:00 p.m. or upon conclusion of the
games, whichever occurs first, as a courtesy to neighbors and to
keep electric costs down. Lights at 17C Sports Facility will be
turned off as games finish or at 10:45 p.m., whichever occurs first.
Games will not be scheduled to start past 9:30 p.m.
- Manager should notify the Parks & Recreation office of any
perceived safety hazards as soon as they are noticed.
Failure to use fields as scheduled may result in revocation of permit
and refusal to issue permit for succeeding seasons. Contact the Parks
& Recreation office immediately if there is a cancellation or if a
field is going unused, except in the case of inclement weather.
Registration Dates and Fees
Listed below is important information for those requesting fields. The fee policy and facility agreement is attached. The steps for
scheduling fields are listed below. All information received will be
returned if not filled out completely or if requested information is
missing.
- Read all information.
- Leagues/Teams requesting field time must fill out a Facility
Agreement Form.
- Requests must list specific dates and times requested.
- Requests must be accompanied by team rosters with names, addresses
and schedules.
- Call the Parks Department with questions. Incomplete request forms
may delay the scheduling process and
cause your league/team to forfeit desired playing times.
The following may help answer your questions:
- All Youth Leagues and Teams are exempt from field user fees.
- A game will be defined as a one and one-half hour (1 1/2 hour)
time slot.
- If you have an advanced league and manage to schedule two or more
time slots back to back, you may squeeze games together (i.e. 3
one-hour games into 2 - 1 1/2 hour time slots).
- Fees apply to all playing times, including practice, regular
season play and playoffs.
- The town will credit league/teams for games canceled by umpires,
park officials or rain. At your written request, you may reserve
make-up dates, providing fields are available, instead of receiving
credits.
Important dates for requesting a field for the
2008 season are
January 2 - Town of Union League and Team requests accepted
in this office. Must include field(s), date(s) and time(s).
January 9 - League and Team requests from outside Town of
Union accepted in this office. Must include field(s), date(s) and
time(s).
April 1 - Confirmation with bill returned to Leagues and
Teams.
April 12 - Insurance certificates, rosters complete with
names and addresses, and playing schedules required.
April 14 - Little League starts
May 5 - Tentative start of season play for softball & soccer.
Fees are due in compliance with the fee schedule as it appears in the
Facility Agreement.

HIGHLAND PARK RECREATION CENTER
Recreation Center Usage and Dates
Due to the demand by various groups for use of the Recreation Center
Gymnasium at Highland Park for indoor sports, the following criteria has
been developed.
- Application procedure:
- Organizations requesting gym time must completely fill out the
enclosed Facility Agreement.
- Agreement must list first and second choices for specific dates
and times requested.

Team play - 1 1/2 hours
Practice sessions - 1 1/2 hours |
- Requests must be received by the Parks and Recreation Department
no later than September 1st.
- Notification of facility applicants will be made the week of
September 18th.
- Incomplete Facility Agreement forms will be returned and may
jeopardize your selection.
- Confirmed users must submit rosters and insurance certificates at
least two weeks prior to use of the facility. No play will occur
until these are received!
NOTE: User selection will be based on a random selection
process maximizing the use of the facility.

utilizing the facility.
Prior usage will not be a determining factor in selection process in
order to assure every organization a fair chance to be allotted gym
time.

Recreation Center Policy
Purpose: The primary purpose of the Recreation Center at
Highland Park is to provide a gymnasium facility for the Town’s
recreation programs and indoor sports. Prohibited uses include social
and religious events, sports lessons and clinics with the intent to
profit from the activity or in which fees are being charged in addition
to normal membership fees, unless sponsored or co-sponsored by the Town
of Union.

Due to availability, all picnic shelters must be applied for in person at the Town of Union Parks Office, 3111 E. Main St., Endwell, NY.
Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in all Town of Union Parks & Recreation facilities.
